Indian Railways Introduces SwaRail App for Ticket Reservations and Integrated Services
Highlights of SwaRail App
- The SwaRail application consolidates various railway applications into a unified platform.
- Users have the capability to book tickets, monitor PNR status, and request food services on trains.
- The application is currently in beta testing for both Android and iOS devices.
On Friday, the Ministry of Railways unveiled the SwaRail app in India. This app serves as a comprehensive solution for providing public-facing services, including reserved ticket bookings, food ordering on trains, and PNR status inquiries.
Currently in beta for both Android and iOS platforms, the SwaRail app is designed to minimize app clutter and optimize storage by removing the necessity for multiple applications to manage railway services on mobile devices.
SwaRail app Features
The Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) has introduced the SwaRail app, which serves as a comprehensive solution by consolidating all public-facing applications of Indian Railways into a single platform.
With the SwaRail application, users across India can conveniently book reserved, unreserved, and platform tickets, inquire about parcel and freight deliveries, track train and PNR status, order food while traveling, and reach out to ‘Rail Madad’ for any complaints or inquiries, as stated by the Ministry of Railways.
At present, Indian Railways operates various applications for ticket bookings and train status inquiries. In contrast, the SwaRail superapp is designed to function as an integrated platform, allowing users to perform these tasks directly from their smartphones, thereby enhancing convenience.
The app’s integration will enable it to present more comprehensive information. For instance, the Ministry of Railways noted that PNR inquiries will also provide relevant details about the specific train. The app features a single sign-on capability, allowing users to access all available services with one set of credentials.
These credentials can also be utilized across other Indian Railways applications, such as IRCTC RailConnect and UTS Mobile App. Additionally, users can employ their existing RailConnect or UTS App credentials to log in. The app also offers various login options, including m-PIN and biometric authentication features.
